Description

This anthropological study explains the localisation and re-creation of religious practices of Sri Lankan Tamil Catholics, who have settled in Germany. This study also considers the Sri Lankan Tamils as a diaspora community, in the process of constantly constructing various traditional concepts such as culture, politics and religion. The author's anthropological findings states that the attempt of the Sri Lankan Tamils to construct ethnic, cultural and religious identities based on diaspora experiences are not fixed; but rather it is fluid. It is a continuous and ongoing process of construction and reproduction of ethnic, cultural, social, political and religious Tamil identity through various narratives over the generations.
