This Directory for Lay Catechists contains norms and directives regarding the identity, the formation and the role of Lay Catechists, in view of the ministry which is to be entrusted to them. It will help Bishops, Priests and Directors for Catechetics to initiate a proper selection of lay catechists and their adequate formation as well as to define their specific role in the parishes. This Directory will be of help for us to develop a road map pointing the way forward for the Ministry of Lay Catechists in India.
