Description
Here, for the first time in English, is published the letters that Mahatma Gandhi wrote to Sister Maria, an Italian nun living in her hermitage in Umbria. There are letters to others as well. The closeness of the friendship that Bapu had with them is shown by the fact that the nuns sang “Lead Kindly Light” during prayers on Gandhiji’s request. Gandhiji was to describe his friendship with the sisters as one of his “dearest memories”.
