The new English translation of the Missal has truly been a collegial effort, spanning several years. Those involved in the task have diligently laboured to unearth the rich scriptural and theological underpinnings of the text, while paying attention to concerns such as accuracy, fidelity to the original, and proclaimability. The new translation provides us with an opportunity for catechesis – not just for the reception of the text, but also for deeper insights on the Mass and liturgy. I hope that this work of author will be of help in this task, and enable us to enter more deeply into the riches of the mystery we celebrate.
