Description
In the situation of “a change of epoch,” Pope Francis looks with hope towards theologians and expects theology “to confront profound cultural transformations” (Ad theologiam promovendam, no. 1) and undergo a “courageous cultural revolution” within itself through “a culture of dialogue and encounter” (ATP 4). Indian theologians have tried to promote such a culture of dialogue and encounter within the Church in and through the papers in the volume, Synodality: An Indian Theological Reflection, which we can also rechristen as “a culture of synodality.” The seven papers focus on the Church’s journeying with and listening to all sections of people, within and outside of the Church, especially to women, youth, and civil society and engaging in ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue and developing a public theology.
