“You are witnesses of these things” (Lk 24:48). “You shall be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). Sending the disciples as witnesses is, for Luke, the conclusion of the Gospel, of what Jesus said and did. It is also the beginning of Acts, of what the Church is called to do. As a conclusion and as an introduction, the theme of witness is the focus of the Lukan double work.
