Description
In the recent past, the secular, democratic, socialist, inter-cultural and inter-religious fabric of India has been increasingly under attack and threatened on all fronts. Day by day, well-engineered riots, terrorism, politically instigated sexual violence, harassment of minorities, lynching, abuse and attack of public institutions and an upsurge of crony capitalism with the nexus of religious fundamentalism keep on multiplying and endangering democratic living in our country.
It is against this backdrop of India today that the Indian Theological Association conducted its 42nd Annual Conference in 2019 on the theme: "Whither India? Theological Responses." The task of the conference was to identify the factors that intersect in the present state of metamorphosis affecting the country and to search for theological and pastoral responses that safeguard Constitutional values. This book has brought out all the scholarly and thought-provoking papers presented during the conference along with the deliberations of the Indian theological gathering.
